Silicon Expert Tapped To Head THAT’s IC Fab
Milford , MA – In a move which promises to strengthen THAT Corporation’s expertise in the manufacture of integrated circuits for the professional audio market, the company has announced the appointment of Hans Van de Polder to the newly-created position of Vice-President – Fab Operations.
Mr. Van de Polder is one of the pioneers of the Silicon Valley revolution, having been among the early key employees at both Fairchild and National Semiconductor. He has responsibility for THAT Corporation’s dielectric isolation (DI) wafer fabrication, where his experience developing DI technology for Elantec and his supervision, as an independent consultant, of Calogic’s DI process give THAT extraordinary leverage in this difficult, high-performance arena.
Hans brings with him a wealth of experience in and knowledge of the semiconductor business, particularly as practiced in Silicon Valley,” according to Les Tyler, THAT Corporation’s President. “He has already helped us solve some of the thornier problems unique to our DI process. Now he’s implementing the systems we need to deliver quality products on time and in full production volume. In short, Hans gives THAT a significant competitive edge.”
Born in the Netherlands, Mr. Van de Polder was educated at the Technical University of Delft, where he obtained an MS in Physics. He emigrated to the US in the 60s and now lives in the Silicon Valley area. When not driving his Camaro with the top down, he enjoys sailing and traveling.
